Threaded inserts for screw holes are widely applied and necessary for fastening  the product or component  in many industries. A quick, easy, and efficient installation method is something that everyone is looking for.

Tappex Generation 3 heat inserter provides an easy, efficient, and most of all, quality-consistent way of installing the thread inserts. The heat insertion melts the plastics around the insert by the heat from the heating tip. This method generates no chips and forms a nice and consistent appearance. 

“The advantage of the Tappex Gen3 heat insert is that its top plate can be installed with up to 4 heater cartridges at multiple heights at a time. The efficiency is therefore drastically increased,” said Martin Trausner, the product manager of thread inserts at KVT-Fastening. “Up to four heater cartridges can even be installed with different sizes of the heat tips and programmed at different temperatures,” he added. 

With up to 4 inserts installed simultaneously and possibly in different sizes and depths, the Tappex Gen 3 heat inserter offers great flexibility. The whole heating plate with the heater cartridge can also be replaced for further variations. 

Martin Trausner demonstrated the installation with Tappex Gen 3 heat inserter within just a few seconds in a very controlled manner. “To ensure a consistent installation height, Tappex Gen3 heat inserter incorporates a damper system which controls the downward movement and serves as a mechanical stop. Furthermore, a signal light indicates when the insert has reached its end position,” said Trausner.

Trausner continues, “The Tappex Gen 3 heat inserter is designed for the installation of Multisert or Microbarb, and so on. It can also be used for other brands of thread inserts.”

“Of course, the customer eventually needs to decide the installation tool depending on their assembly process – if they have an all manual, or fully automatic, or semi-automatic assembly process, and see how the thread insert installation can be integrated into their process. But we have a full range of Tappex inserts, and the Gen 3 heat inserter is perfect for it. It can also be ordered with only one heat cartridge. There is still room for customization,” Martin Trausner concluded.
